The majority of the Virgin Islands were formed by intense volcanic activity millenia ago. They are steep-sided with tall, forest-covered hills which form a beautiful backdrop of green.

Tortola is around 20 miles long and 2 miles wide. White-sand beaches and over 40 miles of crystal clear water surround it. The Gun Point villa is located on private land at the western end of the island.

The currency is the US $. Produce in the shops is from the USA unless it is locally grown or caught.

The local economy thrives. Tourists cater to the number of yachtsmen who visit the "charter boat capital of the world" due to its cooling 5-10 knot year-round breezes.

A short drive from the house is Soper's Hole, the local marina. From here you can explore over 20 islands by boat that lie within 8 miles of Tortola's coast. These islands must be seen for at least one day from the water. Gun Point's staff can organise private power boat rentals or captained day-trips (for up to 6 people) or for larger parties there are many larger day-sail ships which can provide a fully catered service.
